Twelve-year-old Ariana (Magdalena Müller) has been dogged by misfortune since childhood. Alone in the world yet extraordinarily gifted in magic, she ends up in an orphanage, where she must endure taunts from the other children and bullying from the staff. All the little girl longs for is to find a home and discover who her parents were. Her life is suddenly turned upside down when an old alchemist, Archivald (Roman Zach), seeks her out. He offers her a chance to enter a school of alchemists, where she finds not only the home of her dreams but also inseparable friends. To become a full-fledged student, however, she must pass the entrance exams. She is coached by the young alchemists Lora (Sára Korbelová) and Mertur (Cyril Dobrý). At the school, new knowledge and friendships await her—as do ancient secrets. And when the witch Murien (Simona Hába Zmrzlá) appears, Ariana must risk everything to uncover the truth about her past.
