Twelve-year-old Ariana (Magdalena Muller), who is growing up in an orphanage, meets Archivald (Roman Zach), an old alchemist. He offers her the chance to become a student at the Academy of Alchemists. Ariana must pass four entrance exams, for which she is to be prepared by her teachers: Lora (Sára Korbelová) and Mertura (Cyril Dobrý). At the Academy, Ariana forms strong friendships and gets the opportunity to uncover secrets about herself and her parents. But to learn the truth, she must take risks and join forces with a dangerous witch named Murien (Simona Zmrzlá).
